StudioGTM vs. a fractional SDR, ranked
A fractional SDR is one part-time rep, often shared across several clients, working a handful of hours a week. It’s the cheapest way to test whether outbound is worth investing in. StudioGTM is a dedicated pod built for companies who already know the answer is yes and need the motion proven and documented, not just tested.
“Fractional SDR” means a single rep working part-time, usually split across two or three other clients at the same time, dialing against your pipeline for whatever hours are left over.
What a fractional SDR does well
Lowest possible monthly cost, and a genuinely reasonable way to test a channel before committing real budget. If the honest question is “is outbound even worth it for us,” a fractional SDR is a cheap way to get a directional answer without a big commitment.
Where it falls short
One part-time person split across multiple clients can’t generate the call volume needed to learn what’s actually working — which list segments convert, which pitch lands, what objections keep coming up. There’s rarely a manager reviewing their calls, so mistakes repeat instead of getting coached out. You get a trickle of meetings and no real read on why the ones that didn’t convert didn’t. It’s a test, not a motion.
StudioGTM vs. a fractional SDR
| Fractional SDR | StudioGTM | |
|---|---|---|
| Hours per week | Part-time, shared across clients | Dedicated pod |
| Call volume | Low | Enough to learn what converts |
| Coaching | Usually none | Calls reviewed weekly |
| Cost | Lowest | Higher, priced for output |
| Best for | Testing if outbound works at all | Proving and documenting a repeatable motion |
Hire a fractional SDR if: you genuinely don’t know whether outbound is a viable channel yet and want the cheapest possible way to find out.
Hire StudioGTM if: you already believe outbound works and need real volume, coaching, and a documented motion — not just a test.
